WITH A CAMERA IN HAND AND A PEN BEHIND THE EAR, JULIANA BROSTE IS A NATURAL JOURNALIST. SHE HAS AN APPETITE FOR ADVENTURE AND A PASSION FOR TELLING STORIES.
Talented on both sides of the camera, travel video journalist Juliana Broste is an experienced producer, writer, shooter, editor, and on-camera host. Whether working on a large production or as a one-woman band, Juliana loves to be involved with all parts of the creative process.
Specializing in travel and lifestyle content, Juliana's portfolio spans editorial and commercial outlets. Her work has been featured on national networks and web series for CNN Airport, PBS, Travel Channel, Lonely Planet, Matador Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel, MTV, USA TODAY, Viator.com, DIRECTV, VISIT DENVER, Colorado Tourism Board, Colorado Ski Country and numerous tourism boards.
Juliana's adventures have led her across the globe, earning the nickname of "TravelingJules". Catch her in the field snowboarding down Colorado’s snowy ski slopes, exploring the vibrant street food scene in Seoul, South Korea, or flying high above Hawaiian volcanoes by helicopter! She has traveled cross-country many times. Juliana stars in a series of travel videos for Viator.com, where she explores some of the top things to do in North America. On top of the list, she recounts wine tasting in Napa Valley in San Francisco, rafting down the Colorado River at the Grand Canyon, learning how to make gumbo in New Orleans and going cliff jumping in Kona. Juliana is naturally a "fun expert", and was appointed the title during Rand McNally and USATODAY's Best of the Road competition. During a 4,500 mile cross-country road trip, Juliana reported on the "Most Fun" small towns in America. She belly danced with the locals in Yellow Springs, OH, sat on Santa's lap in Santa Claus, IN, and flew through the sky by paraglide in Glenwood Springs, CO--all while capturing the adventure for a nationwide audience. Juliana was recently featured on Outside TV's The Final Cut reality show. The six-episode series showcases filmmakers traveling into the Colorado Backcountry to produce a short film. Whether she's packing her bags or on the road, you just never know where you will see her next!
Juliana maintains her TravelingJules travel blog, which was featured in Budget Travel Magazine in 2008. She shares stories about traveling and living abroad--telling tales of motorbiking in South East Asia, camping in the African wilderness, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, celebrating Munich's Oktoberfest, twirling with Turkish Dervishes and hiding in a sea of Koreans.
When Juliana is not filming and photographing the world, she is tearing up the mountain on her snowboard. She loves shredding the gnar, making fresh tracks on a big powder day, weaving through the trees, riding rails and even carving up the halfpipe! Juliana is a fully certified snowboard instructor and spokesperson for Vail Snowsports School. CNN Airport Network also featured Juliana in several "Snowboarding Tips" commercials. Juliana enjoys teaching first time riders through advanced shredders.
Juliana got an early start in the world of television. When she was nine years old, she starred in a local television commercial--and that's when she knew she wanted to work in TV. As a teenager, she landed a five year work-study internship at KCNC CBS4 Denver, where she worked in every department at the station throughout high school and college. Juliana graduated with honors Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Advertising from the School of Journalism.
In college, Juliana was once served as a "statue babe," a volunteer who handed out the Emmy Award statuettes at the annual ceremony. She now has received eight regional Emmy Awards for her work as a Travel Filmmaker, Producer, Shooter and On-Camera Talent. Juliana serves on the Board of Governors for the Heartland Chapter of NATAS as Program Chair.
Juliana enjoys giving back to the community and speaks at many events throughout the year. Whether teaching people how to best use the cameras in their hands or sharing words of wisdom about blazing your own trail, Juliana hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams and explore this great big world.
